KATIE SHANAHAN
WHO IS KATIE
Katie Shanahan fell in love with the water in mother-and-toddler classes and never got out. She learned her craft at Scotia Swimming Club in Bishopbriggs and City of Glasgow Swim Team at Tollcross, inspired by watching Hannah Miley race at the 2014 Commonwealth Games on home soil.
Twelve years later, it was Katie on the blocks in Glasgow. After an injury-hit season she called the hardest of her career, she won Commonwealth silver in front of a home crowd. Weeks later she was European champion, taking 200m backstroke gold in Paris in a new British record.
Away from the pool, she’s a Journalism and Sports Studies student at the University of Stirling, with a love of fashion and a story she wants to tell in her own words. Her new channel, produced by Monumont Studios, shows the training and the wardrobe side by side, and everything in between.
