TEAM SCOTLAND - COMMONWEALTH GAMES 2026 SQUAD ANNOUNCEMENT

How Monumont Studios helped Team Scotland introduce their swimmers to the world

The Brief

When Team Scotland announced their swimming squad for the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, they needed more than a press release. They needed content that would bring their athletes to life — faces, personalities, and stories that would connect with fans ahead of a home Games.

They came to Monumont Studios.

The Day

We headed to Tollcross International Swimming Centre — one of the most iconic aquatic venues in Scotland and the home pool for the Games themselves — to capture everything in a single production day.

The goal was to deliver two things: a headline event video documenting the squad announcement, and three individual character breakdowns profiling swimmers Scott Gibson, Ciara Schlosshan, and Lucy Grieve.

Four athletes. One venue. One day. A full content suite.

The Approach

Squad announcements can easily fall flat — a list of names, a photo call, a quote from a performance director. We wanted to make this feel like the starting gun had already been fired.

For the event video, we captured the atmosphere and significance of the moment — Team Scotland athletes preparing to compete in front of a home crowd at a Commonwealth Games for the first time in a generation. That context is enormous, and the video needed to carry the weight of it.

For the character breakdowns, we sat down individually with Scott, Ciara, and Lucy. No autocue, no corporate talking points — just a focused interview environment designed to draw out the real person behind the athlete. Who are they? What drives them? What does competing for Scotland at a home Games mean to them?

That's the content audiences actually connect with. Not stats. Not credentials. People.

Why It Works

Sit-down interview content lives or dies on whether the athlete feels comfortable enough to say something real. That's not a technical problem — it's a people problem. At Monumont, we know sport from the inside. We know how athletes think, how they communicate, and how to create an environment where they open up rather than shut down.

The result is three individual films that don't just introduce three swimmers — they give Scottish sport fans a reason to care about each of them before a single race has been swum.

The Deliverables

  • Full event video — squad announcement at Tollcross International Swimming Centre

  • 3 x individual athlete character breakdowns — Scott Gibson, Ciara Schlosshan, Lucy Grieve

  • Short-form cuts for social distribution

The Bigger Picture

This project sits within Monumont's growing body of work around the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games — a home Games for Scotland, and one of the biggest sporting events this country has hosted in years. For Team Scotland, getting their athletes in front of audiences early — with real, compelling content — isn't just marketing. It's momentum.

We're proud to be part of telling that story.

Monumont Studios. Rooted in sport. Built for moments like this.
